    Chania
    Chania, on the north-western coast of Crete, is a city with a history stretching back to the 4th millennium BC. Once the island's main administrative centre, today it draws visitors to its historic harbour district. The 14th-century Venetian harbour and the Janissaries Mosque of 1645 bear witness to a turbulent past. The old town enchants with its Venetian and Turkish architecture. The Mediterranean climate makes it a rewarding destination from spring to autumn, when temperatures are pleasant and the sun is gentle.
